In Detail

Conventional speakers are made in the shape of cubes or rectangular prisms. This allows for an easier manufacturing process, as the speaker can be constructed from only six walls, but creates the perfect environment for standing waves to be generated. The problem with standing waves is that they affect the speaker’s cone movement and cause anomalies in frequency response, making the speaker ring even after the input is gone. The standing waves also create internal interference patterns, amplifying enclosure resonance, and adding unwanted sound to the reproduction of music, such as a spike in volume at a certain frequency. Aluminum can also exhibit this same problem when shaped into a box, but with its uniform density structure and our advanced 5-axis CNC manufacturing processes, we were able to attack the problem right at its core. Funneled cylindrical internal chamber geometry is engineered to nullify resonances by having no walls off of which standing waves can reflect. The chambers are also generously lined with fiberglass insulation to further dampen the enclosures.

The speaker chambers are made of solid aluminum to allow for the highest level of enclosure rigidity, ensuring a tremendously tight and accurate bass response, as well as powerful midrange reproduction. The aero-striction ribbon tweeter is placed in an open-back enclosure, which takes advantage of its rear-firing capabilities, deepening the soundstage as the sopranos reflect off the back wall of the listening room.

Three weeks of continuous CNC machining are required to make the aluminum bodies for just one pair of speakers. Each speaker starts off as 220 lbs of solid aluminum blanks, which after machining comes down to 100 lbs remaining for the actual speaker.

Our speaker is also designed to be “tri-amped,” boasting three pairs of terminals on the rear of the woofer chamber for a very personalized listening experience to those who demand it. When not in use, the speaker comes with high-purity solid copper machined bridges to bridge the inputs together for use with only one amplifier.
